Empire State Building, New York City

New York City Live Camera

[ED Note: This live view of the Chrysler Building temporarily replaces our view of the Empire State Building. We are actively looking for vantage points to get ESB view back.]

My company has an office in New York City and Stanley has the keys to the roof! This shot is taken from E. 21st street and shows the classic NYC skyscraper, the Empire State Building. Aside from falling pennies and King Kong, the ESB is known for its ever-changing lighting that celebrates everything from Black History Month to Christmas. During the day, the building is easily identifyable by its iconic shape ("Don't call me the Chrysler Building!") and its 1,453 feet, 8 9/16th inch height. Completed on November 13, 1930, the building includes 6,500 windows, 73 elevators and generates 100 tons of trash each month. Sounds like someone has taken the tour, doesn't it? Yes, I actually lived a few blocks from this very spot last year while working on a project. It was while living there, directly over the entrance to the Lincoln Tunnel, that I decided on my dog's name, "Taxi". So, there is the tie-in for ya. Enjoy the view.
