Live Cams

This picture is taken by a camera located in my current apartment on 26th street in San Francisco's Mission District. It faces north towards the financial district and the North Beach area. The almost daily fog comes from the west (left in the picture) and will occationally obscure the picture. On a good day the flags on top of the buildings will be visible, on a bad day you can't see past 26th street.

This view is from another camera located in my apartment window. This camera either faces west towards the Clarenden Heights area of the city or down towards the intersection of 26th and Mission. These hills often serve to separate the "sunny" bay side of the city from the foggy ocean side to the west and the fog can often be seen backing-up behind (and eventually coming over) the hills. Sometimes it stays for days!

This is an outdoor view of the Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach, CA. This camera is hosted by my buddy Matty and is located on the roof of my old apartment on 17th street which is on the south side of the Newport Pier. The camera faces northwest towards Newport pier. The surf break right next to the pier is called 'Secrets', but it isn't a secret and the break to the left of the pictures is called 'The Point', but it isn't a point. Go figure.

This camera is located further down the peninsula. The major street is West Balboa and the cross street is 11th. The camera is hosted by the HappyRox (mounted on top of the world's largest partying houseboat) and faces the Pacific ocean to the south. The houseboat is docked next to another one of my old residences, this one is an old beach shack on 11th street. The shack was was bulldozed to make room for my friend Jay's new home. No hard feelings ;-)

Welcome to the Live Camera Page! This webpage is the electronic descendant of the somewhat famous \\/\\/alkCam Page that graced this space for a few years. The current incarnation of the webpage uses StarDot's Webcams to allow virtual tourists to spend some time in Newport Beach (my former home) or San Francisco (my current home) without ever leaving their web browsers. Need a condensed version? Try the Floating Window which features all 4 cams in one window. Stalkers and other curious folks, please check the FAQ for information about the site, its author and the history of the other cameras that were part of the original WalkCam Page. If you would like to make your visit more permanent, please take a minute to sign the Guestbook. Thanks for visiting and enjoy the view.
